Meet Jim
A lifelong DuPage resident
Jim Zay has lived in DuPage County since 1971. He and his wife Katie raised their two sons, Jimmy and Tyler, here, and Jim has spent most of his adult life working on the parts of the county most people only notice when they fail: the stormwater, the roads, the water supply, and the budget that pays for all three.
He was elected to the DuPage County Board in 1999 and has represented District 6 ever since, which makes him the longest serving member of the board. Before that he served as a DuPage County Forest Preserve Commissioner and as a Wayne Township Trustee.
He chairs the Redistricting Committee and the Stormwater Committee, serves as Vice Chairman of the Legislative Committee, and sits on Finance, Judicial and Public Safety, Public Works, Transportation, and the Community Development Commission. As Chairman of the DuPage Water Commission he took an agency that had borrowed $80 million and left it with no debt, reserves in hand, and an agreement that brought Lake Michigan water to the Village of Bartlett in 2019.
